**Learning Objectives**: The purpose of this lesson is for students to discover and formalize the Pythagorean Theorem by investigating the relationship between the areas of the squares constructed on each side of a right triangle. Students will also apply the Pythagorean Theorem to find missing lengths in a right triangle and solve equations involving square roots as it relates to the Pythagorean Theorem. Students will use prior knowledge of square roots to make connections between the concepts. By the end of the week, students will be able to demonstrate an enduring understanding of using and applying the Pythagorean Theorem.
